On 21 July 2021 Victorian Supreme Court Justice Champion sentenced the Kannans on charges of intentionally possessing a slave and using a slave in circumstances of domestic servitude in this case I prosecuted on behalf of the CDPP in the initial stages. Mrs and Mr Kannan were sentenced to terms of imprisonment totalling 8 and 6 years respectively.
